There are many new, innovative services that the business community could provide to help grow the economy and enrich citizens lives here in SA that could be based on information held by Government. Either this information is classed as confidential (it may or may not need to be) or we don't know that it exists.
Three stages:
1. we need a forum to help businesses request access to government information, understand if the information exists, for government to volunteer that it does exist to preempt interest.
2. we need Government to take a pro-FOI position: the information should be made available except when clear confidentiality issues are at stake.
3. we need Government to set up the mechanism by which this information can be accessed so that 'fresh and accurate' information is served in a format that supports easy use/integration in applications and services.
